Scathing (and funny) post and comments at Jezebel on the DHHS birth control proposal I posted about last night. (Note: Jessica says this proposal would define all birth control as abortion, when as far as I know, it's specifically hormonal birth control.)

How convenient for Republicans to be in favor of states rights…for everything except a woman's right to choose!
-------
I love how discrimination, originally a tool for the poor and the disenfranchised and women and people of colour and you know, basically the underclasses, now gets wielded as a tool to protect conservative interests.
-------
I'm so glad that two cells have more rights than I have. A person's a person no matter how small... unless that person is an ovulating woman. In that case, some animals are more equal than others.
-------
By this logic, even abstinence is an abortion. In fact, any moment you are not actively pregnant, you are therefore, having an abortion.
-------
You are supposed to stay home and care for the baby. If you are single, you are supposed to marry the father so he can bring in the money. If the father doesn't earn enough money, you are supposed to tell him that he needs to choose to make more money.
-------
I'm sick to death of these Bible-banging loonies deciding that my only purpose is to function as a baby cannon. Even more disturbing is the fact that I think this all comes back to the War Industrial Complex - as long as there are plenty of poor, disenfranchised children, there will always be those interested in the volunteer army, and they can continue their overseas shenanigans to their heart's content.
What's more, I resent it - if you don't believe in birth control or abortion - don't get one. Just leave me to live my own damn life. Why is this so fucking hard to do?
-------
And the thing is, like funnyface said, there is NO option under these 'decisions' (for lack of a better word) than for women to be perpetually pregnant or abstinent. Yeah, that's fair.
-------
pretty soon, everyone with a rx for birth control will be on the terrorist watch list. don't want to have babies? can't get on the plane.
-------
Seeing as one in five pregnancies results in miscarriage (often unbeknownst to the woman), it seems GWB's god is the biggest abortionist of all!
-------
Oh Republicans love sex, they just don't want you to love sex.
